Developed in noise

Developed in Noise explores the relationship between images and their surface. I treat grain not just as a byproduct of film, but as a primary material, like sand scattered across a canvas. Shot on film, these photographs embrace the extremity of analog imperfection. Each image becomes a chaotic scattering of silver halide, producing images that focus on form rather than subject. With this work I evoke energy not through clean lines and detail, but what was felt in the moment. I am interested in exploring how grain and contrast abstract a subject until it becomes something new. An emotional impression rather than a literal frame. This series serves as a continuation of my exploration into energy, isolation, and texture - now through the lens of film pushed to its limits.
